| Many patients have very mild facial wrinkles and yearly changes in
skin texture and color; these are signs of the photo aging process. Many
other patients complain of acne, hyperpigmentation, or
small scars. There are several non-invasive procedures available.
These include micro-dermabrasion (also known as the "lunch time peel")
and Aesthetic Peel. Microdermabrasion takes
off the top (dead) layer of the skin and vacuums the dead skin away.
A diamond-tipped handpiece mechanically abrades the skin and a suction
system vacuums the exfoliated particles away. Dr. Lara Longo can use a
mild chemical peel in combination with this treatment for greater rejuvenation.
Our microdermabrasion machine is medical grade with corresponding strength.
The machine must only be used by trained professionals.
The procedures are quick, non-invasive, and require little or no down time. The treatment allows the skin cells to turn over more quickly and opens the pores. This gives the skin a more youthful, glowing appearance. Usually, several treatments are necessary in order to achieve the patient's desired effect. Microdermabrasion is available to clients who wish to enhance the appearance of their skin, but are not yet ready for laser resurfacing. Aesthetic Peels use special chemicals (alpha and beta hydroxyl acids) to chemically renew the skin. We have numerous concentrations (10%-70%) to match your skin type and conditions. To date these techniques have been used for over 40 years to treat unsightly scars from acne, trauma and other disorders. Aesthetic peels were then developed to smooth out blemishes, fine wrinkles and other cumulative changes from sun damage. They are very effective when combined micro-dermabrasion treatment and give a synergistic effect. |
